    If her definition of “education” is “the bestowal of knowledge through clear communication” then – if the jarring reference to hypnosis and “wide-eyed pullovers” are anything to go by – her torturous prose is anything but didactic.

    Well, I don’t suppose she’s looking to educate anyone. The aim seems to be to coddle – to “reassure…bored readers that there is no need to rouse themselves from their interpassive stupor.” Oh, people with amusing French accents who try to give precise names to things – we can safely ignore them.
