You will be dispensed with…

…or deported, whatever’s easiest, whatever can be done with the least fuss.

I want to say something about this.

I want to name the people who are letting this happen, who either willingly taken their part in it or defend the “standing orders” of a corrupt, authoritarian and fear-mongering government, for what they are: cowards, collaborators, kapos.

I want to praise the people who are opposing this, the students at Nottingham and everyone else who has said that it is not acceptable, that it has to be stopped.

The “war on terror” has to end. The scapegoating and fear-mongering have to end. The racist filth spewed over immigrants and Muslims must be stopped at its source. All of these things have to be recognised as what they are: instruments by which the arbitrary power of corrupt, shameless, lying thugs and bullies can be amplified and extended. A way for them to excuse their behaviour, to buy time for more and worse.

I received a letter from Liberty yesterday asking me to write to my MP about the current parliamentary debate over whether or not to extend the period they can keep people locked up without charge. I’m sorry, but I think we’ve gone past that point now. I know my MP: I know she’ll do nothing, just defend the indefensible at me. I don’t want to receive any more of these people’s smarmy replies on headed notepaper. I want them out of power.
