Many years ago, I heard about a web-site that challenged readers to decide whether a lyric was written by Lou Barlow or Michael Bolton. Allegedly, it was harder than most Sebadoh fans liked to admit.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find these Michael Bolton lyrics in a Lou Barlow song:
“Sometimes you find out what you wanted
Isn’t really what you need
And the dream in all its promise
Was never meant to be”
“You’ve gotta know when love is over
You’ve gotta learn to carry on
And with the world upon your shoulders
You walk away when hope is gone”
Perhaps one was writing for the other!
